From Religion to Relationship: The Transformative Testimony of Curtis Petrey

Curtis Petrey's Transformation

Greetings, dear readers! Today, I am thrilled to share a powerful testimony that beautifully illustrates the journey from religious activity to a profound relationship with Jesus Christ. This story is particularly special as it comes from Curtis Petrey, a man whose life was dramatically transformed by an encounter with the living God.

A Life Steeped in Religious Duty

Curtis Petrey was a man deeply entrenched in the church. Raised in a Methodist household, he was actively involved in church activities from a young age. Curtis humorously recalls, "I had a drug problem. I was drugged to church every Sunday." His commitment to the church extended into his adulthood, where he held numerous leadership positions, including the director of evangelism for his local Methodist Church in Mississippi.

Despite his extensive involvement, something was missing. Curtis had all the outward trappings of a devout Christian but lacked a personal, transformative relationship with Jesus.

The Turning Point: A Lay Witness Mission

The pivotal moment in Curtis's spiritual journey came in 1968 during a lay witness mission at his church. This event, focused solely on personal testimonies, exposed Curtis to something he had never experienced before – the vibrant, life-changing testimonies of others who had encountered Jesus personally.

During the Sunday morning worship service, as testimonies flowed, Curtis felt a stirring in his heart. "I realized I had something missing in my life," he admits. When the altar call was given, Curtis found himself compelled to respond. Despite his prominent position in the church, he walked down to the altar and invited Jesus into his life, experiencing what it truly meant to be born again.

A Shared Transformation

Remarkably, Curtis's transformation did not stop with him. His wife, Nancy, who was in the choir that day, also responded to the altar call, and they both gave their lives to Jesus. From that day forward, their service in the church was no longer out of mere duty but driven by a genuine love for Christ.

The Power of Testimonies

Curtis's story underscores the profound impact testimonies can have on others. As he puts it, "These testimonies do affect people." His own life is a testament to the power of personal stories in leading others to a deeper, more authentic faith.

A Miracle of Healing

But Curtis's journey doesn't end there. Years later, he faced a severe health crisis. Suffering from high blood pressure and heart problems, his condition deteriorated to the point where his family feared for his life. However, in a moment of divine intervention, his son Perry received a word from God declaring that Curtis would not die but live to proclaim God's healing power.

Against all medical expectations, Curtis recovered. His miraculous healing baffled doctors and reaffirmed his faith. He went on to preach a powerful sermon titled "No Such Thing as a Hopeless Case," sharing his testimony of God's miraculous intervention in his life.

Conclusion: A Living Testimony

Curtis Petrey's story is a vivid reminder that true Christianity is not about religious rituals but about a living, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. His journey from "Mr. Church" to a born-again believer and his miraculous healing testify to the transformative power of God's love and grace.

Remembering Karen Jackson & Spiritual Christianity #CWC

Celebrating the Life of Karen Jackson: A Beacon of Spiritual Christianity

Today, I want to share something deeply personal and impactful with you. This will be my last blog talk radio show due to the high costs associated with it, but don't worry, we're exploring other avenues to keep our spiritual discussions alive and accessible.

Firstly, I want to talk about Karen Jackson from our Fellowship Christian Church who recently passed away. Karen and her husband Howard have been monumental influences in my spiritual journey, and their dedication to the ministry has left an indelible mark on many lives, including mine.

The Prophetic Encounter

Back in 2000-2001, I was attending the Christian Tabernacle Church, renowned for the miraculous event in October 1996 when the pulpit split in half. During this time, I had a prophetic dream about meeting two people, which I later realized were Howard and Karen Jackson. This encounter was predestined, as highlighted by the Holy Spirit showing me things to come, a testament to the prophetic nature of our faith.

Despite numerous spiritual attacks, I eventually met them, and Howard's first words to me were, "You're supposed to be in full-time ministry." This was the beginning of a profound relationship where I would often lead worship at their home meetings and witness their unwavering commitment to fellowship and discipleship.

A Life of Fellowship and Miracles

Howard and Karen Jackson were not just hearers of the word; they lived it. They opened their home to many, offering discipleship and transforming lives. Their ministry, aptly named Our Fellowship Christian Church, emphasized love and fellowship, embodying John 13:35, "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

Their home was always open, and they were always ready to support and uplift others. Karen, even with her demanding schedule, made time for the ministry and the people. Their Friday lunches and post-church gatherings were like spiritual huddles, where we shared stories, revelations, and encouraged each other in our faith.

Spiritual Insights and Reflections

In the latter part of this blog, I want to share some spiritual insights that have been resonating with me, specifically from John 14:19-23 and Romans 8:8-10. These passages highlight the spiritual relationship we are meant to have with Jesus, emphasizing that true believers will keep His commandments out of love, not obligation.

Jesus' promise that He and the Father will make their abode with those who love Him and keep His words is a profound reminder of the intimacy we are called to have with Him. This spiritual relationship is more than intellectual assent; it is about having the Spirit of Christ dwelling within us.

Thank you for being a part of my spiritual journey and ConradRocks.net. As we transition from blog talk radio, stay connected through our various social media platforms and the Conrad Rocks news feed.

Until we meet again, dig deeper and go higher.
