From Agnostic to Advocate: Chris Townsend's Journey of Faith

Breaking the Chains of Doubt: Chris Townsend's Testimony

As a content creator passionate about sharing powerful testimonies, I'm always on the lookout for stories that can inspire and encourage others. Recently, I had the privilege of interviewing Chris Townsend, author of "Ekklesia Rising" and a man with an incredible journey from agnosticism to faith. In this blog post, I'll share Chris's story and the insights I gained from our conversation.

The Seeds of Doubt

Chris's story begins in his childhood, around the age of six or seven. Even at that young age, he was a deep thinker, observing the world around him with a critical eye. Growing up in a nominally Christian culture, he noticed a disconnect between what people professed to believe and how they lived their lives. This inconsistency planted seeds of doubt in his young mind.

As Chris explained to me, "I couldn't reconcile the fact that these people believed in an Almighty creator of Heaven and Earth, yet it didn't affect everything that they did." He began asking questions, seeking answers that could satisfy his curiosity. Unfortunately, the responses he received felt insufficient, lacking the depth and conviction he craved.

The Descent into Darkness

By the time Chris was eight years old, he had become what he would later learn to call "agnostic." This shift in worldview had profound consequences. Without a belief in God, Chris struggled to find purpose or meaning in life. Depression set in, gripping his young heart with a heaviness that no child should bear.

As he grew older, Chris sought solace in earthly pursuits. Basketball became his passion for a time, providing a temporary escape from the emptiness inside. But as he entered his teenage years, his focus shifted to relationships, particularly with women.

The turning point came in high school when Chris encountered the term "agnosticism" for the first time. It perfectly described his state of mind, and he embraced it fully. With this open declaration came a dangerous freedom – if there was no higher authority to answer to, why hold back?

Chris's life spiraled out of control. He dropped out of high school, fell into drug use, and found himself in a self-destructive cycle that seemed impossible to break. For years, he lived what he described as "hell on earth," seeking pleasure at any cost, even if it meant risking his life.

The First Glimmer of Light

Eventually, Chris realized that his lifestyle wasn't sustainable. With great effort, he managed to return to high school and graduate, albeit a semester late. He even went on to attend Texas Christian University, though his partying ways continued.

After graduation and a brief stint in his field of study, the economic crash of 2008 left Chris jobless. He found himself working in retail, eventually becoming a manager at a store in Cedar Hill, Texas. It was here that he encountered something he had never truly seen before – Christians who were, as they say, "sold out for God."

The Turning Point

The pivotal moment came when a former drug addict walked into Chris's store one day. The man shared his testimony of how God had set him free from addiction. Chris found himself saying, "God just took it out of my life, out of the desire, out of my heart." The words came out before he even realized what he was saying.

In that moment, Chris recognized that his own journey away from drugs wasn't solely due to his willpower but to a higher power he had refused to acknowledge. This realization opened him up to considering the existence of God once again.

The Crisis and the Calling

Just as Chris was beginning to explore this new path, a crisis hit. He received a text message that shattered his world: "I'm pregnant." The woman was married, and Chris had been engaging in an affair with her. The weight of his actions came crashing down on him.

Broken and desperate, Chris sought help from a pastor. He shared the gospel with Chris, explaining that despite our sins, God loves us and wants to restore us. In that moment of despair, Chris gave his life to God – even though he didn't fully believe yet.

A New Purpose

As Chris embraced his newfound faith, he felt a calling to ministry. Three years ago, he and his wife made the decision for him to quit his job and pursue biblical studies. He spent a year at Christ for the Nations Institute and then began working on a master's degree at Liberty University.

During this time, Chris wrote a book called "Ekklesia Rising," which explores how to apply New Testament principles in our postmodern, post-Christian culture. The book caught the attention of one of his professors, leading to opportunities to teach and share his insights with others.

Conclusion and Call to Action

Chris's journey from agnosticism to faith is a powerful testament to God's relentless pursuit of us, even when we're running in the opposite direction. His story reminds us that no matter where we've been or what we've done, it's never too late for a fresh start with God.

If you're feeling lost, questioning your purpose, or struggling with doubt, I encourage you to take heart from Chris's story. God is real, and He loves you more than you can imagine. Consider opening your heart to the possibility of a personal encounter with Him.

Overcoming Night Terrors and Demonic Attacks: A Spiritual Warrior's Guide

Victory Over Night Terrors and Demonic Attacks

This is important!

Today we're diving deep into a topic that's been weighing heavily on my heart: night terrors, demonic attacks, and sleep paralysis. As I was praying last night, unable to sleep, the Lord impressed upon me the urgency of addressing this issue. Many of you have been reaching out, sharing your experiences with these spiritual attacks, and I believe it's time we tackle this head-on.

The Reality of Spiritual Warfare

Before we go further, let me be clear: the spiritual realm is as real as the physical world we inhabit. In Ephesians 6:12, we're reminded that "we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." This isn't just theological theory; it's a reality I've experienced firsthand throughout my life.

In my book, "Open Your Eyes: My Supernatural Journey," I recount numerous encounters with the supernatural. One particularly vivid experience occurred when I was about five years old. A man entered my room and put his hand on my face while I was asleep. I couldn't wake up; it felt like my spirit was rushing from the bottom of the ocean to the surface. This sensation of paralysis and struggle is a common denominator in night terrors and sleep paralysis.

Understanding Night Terrors and Sleep Paralysis

What many in the secular world dismiss as mere "sleep paralysis," we in the spiritual realm recognize as genuine warfare. The etymology of the word "nightmare" itself has roots in demonic attacks. In Old English, it denoted a spirit thought to lie upon and suffocate sleepers. This aligns with many people's experiences of feeling a heavy presence on their chest, struggling to breathe or move.

During these attacks, victims often feel trapped, desperately trying to surface to consciousness. They may want to call out to Jesus but find themselves unable to speak. This paralysis is a common tactic of the enemy to instill fear and helplessness.

The Spiritual Significance of These Attacks

If you're experiencing these attacks, I want you to know something crucial: you likely have a prophetic call on your life. The enemy doesn't waste time on those who pose no threat to his kingdom. Your experiences, as terrifying as they may be, are often a sign that God has equipped you for supernatural ministry.

Remember, many are called, but few are chosen (Matthew 22:14). Your calling requires discipline, dedication, and a willingness to learn and grow in your spiritual authority.

Biblical Foundations for Overcoming

Jesus gave us clear instructions and authority when it comes to dealing with demonic forces. In Mark 16:17, He says, "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues."

The name of Jesus is powerful – just uttering it can send demons fleeing. But it's not just about saying the words; it's about walking in the authority and character of Christ.

Open Doors to the Demonic

It's crucial to understand that sometimes we unknowingly invite demonic influence into our lives. These "open doors" can make us more susceptible to spiritual attacks, including night terrors. Here are some common ways we might be opening ourselves up to demonic influence:

Ungodly Entertainment: What we watch, read, and listen to has a profound impact on our spiritual well-being.

Unforgiveness: Holding onto bitterness can give the enemy a foothold in our lives.

Occult Practices: Even seemingly harmless activities like reading horoscopes can open doors to demonic influence.

Generational Curses: Sometimes, the sins of our ancestors can have spiritual consequences that affect us.

Unrepented Sin: Persistent, unconfessed sin in our lives can create a breach in our spiritual defenses.

Negative Confessions: Our words have power. Speaking curses over ourselves or others, even in jest, can invite spiritual darkness.

Ungodly Relationships: Close associations with people deeply involved in sin or occult practices can expose us to spiritual attacks.

 Practical Steps for Victory

Strengthen Your Faith: Jesus told His disciples that some demons only come out by prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21). Regular prayer and fasting can increase your spiritual authority.

Guard Your Gates: Be mindful of what you allow into your life through your eyes and ears. Avoid ungodly entertainment, music, or literature that could give the enemy a foothold.

Consecrate Your Space: Just as I dedicated my music studio solely to worship, consider consecrating your living space to God. Remove any objects that could have occult associations.

Use Your Authority: When under attack, command the spirits to leave in the name of Jesus. Remember, you have been given authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19).

Seek Discipleship: Find mature believers who can guide you in developing your spiritual gifts and authority.

Cultivate a Lifestyle of Worship: Make praise and worship a daily habit, not just a Sunday activity.

Personal Reflections and Experiences

Throughout my life, I've had numerous encounters with demonic forces. One particularly vivid experience involved an out-of-body encounter where I confronted a demonic presence in my home. These experiences have taught me the importance of staying vigilant and continually growing in spiritual authority.

I've learned that the more you take territory for Jesus, the bigger the spiritual battles you'll face. But remember, greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Biblical Teachings on Spiritual Warfare

The Bible is full of wisdom on spiritual warfare. Paul's teachings in Ephesians 6 about putting on the full armor of God are particularly relevant. We must stand firm in our faith, clothed in truth, righteousness, and the gospel of peace, wielding the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

Conclusion

If you're facing night terrors or demonic attacks, know that you're not alone, and more importantly, you're not powerless. God has equipped you with everything you need for victory. It's time to rise up, claim your authority in Christ, and push back against the forces of darkness.

I encourage you to dig deeper into this topic. Read my book, "Open Your Eyes: My Supernatural Journey," for more insights and testimonies. I also wrote a book specifically about overcoming demonic night terror. Click the link here:  Overcoming Night Terror: Making the Demons Leave

Remember, in Christ, we are more than conquerors. Let's stand together, armed with the truth, and shine the light of Jesus into the darkest corners of the spiritual realm.

A Miraculous Healing: The Power of Jesus Christ

Miracle Healing: From Wheelchair to Walking

As a passionate believer and host of "Coffee with Conrad," I've had the privilege of hearing countless testimonies. But today, I want to share with you one of the most extraordinary stories I've ever encountered. I recently interviewed Londa Choate, a woman whose life was radically transformed by the healing power of Jesus Christ. Her testimony is not just inspiring; it's a powerful reminder of God's ability to work miracles in our lives.

Meeting Londa

I met Londa Choate during an outreach event at Solid Rock Church. As we fellowshipped, she began to share her story with me, and I was immediately captivated. The depth of her experience and the magnitude of God's intervention in her life left me in awe. I knew instantly that this was a testimony that needed to be shared with the world.

 The Interview

When I invited Londa to join me for an interview, I could sense the excitement in her voice. As we began our conversation, she emphasized a crucial point that set the tone for her entire testimony:

"No matter what situations are in people's lives, God is able to do abundantly above more than they could ever ask or even think. He did it for me, and He can do it for them."

These words resonated deeply with me, and I knew that our listeners would be touched by the hope and faith behind them.

Londa's Journey

As Londa began to unfold her story, I was struck by the intensity of her struggles. She revealed that her challenges began even before she was born, with a traumatic event during her mother's pregnancy. This set the stage for a life marked by constant health issues and accidents.

Londa's narrative took us through her teenage years, when she broke her back, and into her adult life, where she faced the devastating diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS). As she described her rapid decline - from walking difficulties to being confined to a wheelchair - I could sense the pain and hopelessness she must have felt.

But the story didn't end there. Londa went on to share about two brain strokes that left her with the mind of a two-year-old child, paralyzed on one side, and unable to control her bodily functions. As I listened, I couldn't help but marvel at the resilience of her husband, who refused to put her in a nursing home despite the immense challenges.

The Turning Point

The most captivating part of Londa's testimony was the description of the night God intervened. On October 6, 1988, a group of people, led by a woman from her husband's workplace, gathered to pray for Londa. As she recounted the events of that evening, I was amazed by the divine orchestration - how 17 family members and friends "just happened" to show up at the right moment.

Londa's account of seeing Jesus standing by her bed and feeling "liquid love" flow through her body was truly awe-inspiring. As an interviewer, I've heard many powerful testimonies, but the tangible presence of God in her story was undeniable.

The Aftermath

What struck me most about Londa's testimony was not just her personal healing, but the ripple effect it had on others. Her sister-in-law's instantaneous healing from scoliosis and the salvation of all 17 people present that night were powerful testimonies in themselves.

As Londa described her gradual healing over four days and her ability to stand in church the following Monday, I could sense the excitement and gratitude in her voice. Her account of her doctor's reaction - from disbelief to tears and eventual salvation - was a powerful reminder of how God can use our testimonies to touch others.

Biblical Reflections

Throughout our conversation, I was impressed by Londa's grounding in Scripture. She referenced Isaiah 53:5 and Mark 11:24, demonstrating how her experience aligned perfectly with God's Word. As someone who values Biblical truth, I found this aspect of her testimony particularly compelling.

As we concluded our interview, I felt compelled to ask Londa to pray for our listeners. Her prayer was powerful, filled with hope and faith for those facing seemingly impossible situations. It was a beautiful reminder that the same God who healed Londa is still working miracles today.

Conclusion

Londa Choate's testimony is a powerful reminder of God's healing power and His ability to transform lives. As I reflect on our conversation, I'm once again amazed at the work of Jesus Christ in our world today.

To all my listeners and readers, I encourage you to share this testimony. Whether through email, Facebook, Twitter, or any other means, spread the word about God's miraculous power. Remember, Jesus still heals, and no situation is beyond His reach.
