  Have You Ever Wondered Where You Got Off Track? I have had plenty of ups and downs. I am grateful that Jesus saved me and brought me through many things, but I have also looked back and wondered where my life derailed. I moved to California when I was eighteen. Would everything have been different if I had stayed in Texas? That kind of question can become an endless hallway with no exit. Reflection can teach us, but regret can imprison us. We cannot rewrite yesterday by staring at it. Jesus meets us in the present and calls us forward. The question is no longer, “What life might I have had?” The question is, “What does obedience look like now?” Jesus Warned Us About Looking Back Jesus said that no one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God (Luke 9:62). Breaking Defeatist Thinking  Have you ever failed at something a few times and quietly decided, “I guess this is just the way I am”? That sentence can become a prison. Many people are prisoners of a conditioned belief system. They are not held by an iron chain. They are held by conclusions formed through disappointment, fear, repeated failure, and words spoken over them. They tried, stumbled, and eventually stopped expecting anything to change. Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he” (KJV). Our thoughts are not little gods, and positive thinking is not the gospel. But what we continually believe in the heart shapes what we attempt, what we tolerate, and how we respond when God calls us forward. If we constantly rehearse, “I am a loser,” “I can never change,” or “God could never use me,” we will often live beneath what Jesus is calling us to become. Dedad used to tell me that people had an "I" problem when I was a kid. At first, I thought he meant they had a vision problem or something. Maybe they needed glasses. Maybe they could not see right. In a way, I guess that was true, but not the way I understood it back then. What he meant was that some people talk about themselves all the time. They are always focused on themselves, defending themselves, promoting themselves, and making sure everybody knows what they want, what they think, and what they deserve. That little phrase stuck with me: an "I" problem. The older I get, the more I realize how biblical that warning really was. The "I" problem is not just a personality quirk. It is a spiritual problem. It is the root of pride, rebellion, self-will, and a life centered around something other than God. And here is the hard question: how much of our Christian life is still built around "I"? They present the decision as though they finally became honest, rational people who outgrew Christianity. I do not doubt that sincere questions can be part of someone's journey. God is not frightened by questions. But we need to be clear about what science can do and what it cannot do. Christianity Is Not Anti-Science or Anti-Knowledge Science studies the created order. It observes, tests, measures, compares, and repeats. That is valuable. A microscope can reveal a world we cannot see with our eyes. A telescope can show the majesty of the heavens. Medicine, engineering, and careful investigation are gifts that can help people. Scripture does not call us to be anti-knowledge. It tells us that t...
