You think your 'Christian' family will never turn against you? As you probably already know, I had a lot of supernatural experiences when I was a kid. One time I was underneath the carport and something compelled me to look directly at my dad's metal kickstand on his bicycle. As I stared at it intently for a few seconds, this metal kickstand snapped in two while I was staring at it. I ran into the house to tell my family about it, and they accused me of lying. We should cling tightly to scripture but also emphasize following the Spirit of God. Ever notice that Jesus was constantly confounding the top theologians? Notice that Jesus often did things that might not be easy to find a scriptural reason for doing so? Like spitting mud into someone's eye? Casting demons into pigs? Walking on water? Turning water into wine? Why did Jesus do those things without an obvious scriptural precedent? He was following His Father which is Spirit! Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Notice how Jesus said He followed the Father: Joh 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
