The Joshua Harris Apostasy: Why Religious Formulas Fail and How to Find the Real Jesus

Image
I’m sitting here with my coffee, the steam rising in the morning light, but my heart is heavy. It feels like an emergency. You know that feeling when you see a house on fire and you’re the only one with a bucket? That’s where I am today. We’re watching the pillars of the "celebrity Christian" world crumble, and it’s not just a news story—it’s a symptom of a deep, spiritual rot. The news hit the wires like a hurricane: Joshua Harris, the man who shaped an entire generation’s view of romance with I Kissed Dating Goodbye , has officially announced he is no longer a Christian. He’s "deconstructing," as the world likes to call it. But if we look at the Word, there’s a much older, much more sobering term for it: falling away. This is the pain point for so many of us. We see leaders we trusted, people who wrote the "formulas" for how to live a holy life, walking away into the sunset of agnosticism or secularism. It leaves you wondering: Was any of it real? I...

Open Your Mouth and God Will Fill It: Stepping into Spontaneous Spiritual Authority

Image
It was 2014, and I was in Lampasas, Texas. If you've ever been out that way, you know there’s a certain kind of quiet that settles over the land at night. I was sitting at the foot of my bed, just being still, seeking that spiritual relationship with the biblical Jesus that I’m always talking about on ConradRocks.net . I wasn't looking for a "word" or trying to manufacture some spiritual experience. I was just there. And then, in that stillness, I heard it. It wasn’t an audible voice that would wake the neighbors, but it was crystal clear in my spirit: "Open your mouth, and I will fill it." That phrase hit me like a ton of bricks. I knew it was scripture, but I didn't fully grasp the weight of it at that moment. Have you ever felt like you’re standing on the edge of a divine appointment, but your throat tightens up? You see someone at the grocery store—maybe they're lingering a little too long in the produce aisle, looking discouraged—and you feel t...

Is Street Preaching Hate Speech?

Image
The first time I ever did street preaching, I wasn't planning on it. A guy handed me a microphone on Beale Street in Memphis while worship music played in the background. He saw my Jesus shirt and said, "Hey man, you want to preach?" So I started preaching on Matthew 7:21-23— "Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." (KJV) Guess what happened? The police shut me down in less than five minutes. They said I was too loud. But I was no louder than the guy playing music next to me, and I was certainly no louder than the live bands blasting from every bar up and down Beale Street. The message was the problem. Not the volume. That night crystallized something for me: the world doesn't mind noise. It minds the Name of Jesus. What People Think Street Preaching Is When most people hear "street preaching," they picture someone screaming hellfire and cond...
