Don't Look Back!

Image
I have had a lot of ups and downs in my life. I am glad I am saved, and I am glad that I have overcome a lot of things. But I sometimes look back and wonder where I got off track. I decided to go to California when I was 18.  I keep second-guessing myself. Is this where I derailed? Would things have been any different if I stayed in Texas? I left my Texas family and embraced the morals and values of Hollywood. Yeah, I probably should never have went to California. But on the other hand, I had a ton of pitfalls that I learned from and I can warn others about. There is nothing we can do about the past. Learn from it and move on. We CAN do something about tomorrow. In any event, God reached through and saved me in spite of all my pitfalls and shortcomings when I was all alone in my living room. He could have done that in Texas, California, or anywhere. If you keep second-guessing yourself, I encourage you to look forward. Jesus says, once we commit, to look f...

Defeatist Mentality? or More than Conquerors?

Image
Many people are prisoners of their conditioned belief system. Have you ever had a defeatist attitude about something because you failed a few times? Pro 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he;... If we constantly think that we are a loser, or we can't achieve something, then that is actually going to be the case. We prophesy our own demise by our limited beliefs. Have you ever wondered why huge elephants won't ever break away from their ropes?  It is because of their conditioned belief system. Elephants are tied to a stake with a large rope when they are young and they are not strong enough to break away. They try over and over but then eventually give up and resolve that the rope and peg is too much for them.  They resolve in their minds that it will always be this way.  Their beliefs are conditioned or 'conformed'  by their trainers. When the elephants grow older, everyone but them seems to know that they can easily bust out of the prison of th...

Do we have an "I" Problem?

Image
Dedad used to tell me that people had an "I" problem when I was a kid. I thought they had a vision problem or something. It turns out, he meant they talked about and focused on themselves a lot. Look at the character of satan. He says "I will" five times in Isaiah 14. Contrast this with Jesus. Jesus said "not my will, but thine, be done" on the way to the cross. (Luke 22:42). If we are focusing on ourselves and talking about ourselves a lot, maybe we have an "I" problem that we need to deal with.

Apostates claim Science as their Reason for Falling Away

Image
How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life Jude 1:18-21 (KJV) Notice these mockers don't have the spirit. They are 'sensual'. Many alleged apostates are supposedly 'Falling Away' from the faith are claiming science as their fundamental reason. Science is based on empirical data that can be quantified or qualified. Science is 'sensual' or 'of the senses'. Science needs to measure something before it can believe. Sciences bases things on observation (sight) or the other 'senses' like feel, taste, touch, or sound. Science IGNORES the spirit entirely. Jude intimates that these mockers never had a s...
