The Wilderness Companion - Book Review

Image
Find Your Way Through Hard Times with "The Wilderness Companion" by Glynda Lomax Are you feeling lost and alone, like you're wandering through a cracked desert with no water in sight? If so, then Glynda Lomax's book, " The Wilderness Companion ," might be the perfect guide for you.  Lomax, a popular YouTuber and Christian author, knows what it's like to be in the wilderness. In this book, she shares her own experiences of overcoming challenges and finding faith during difficult times.  The book's cover itself is symbolic. The cracked desert landscape represents the feeling of isolation and hardship that many of us face at some point in our lives. The cross in the foreground serves as a reminder of Jesus's own 40 days of temptation in the wilderness, and the hope that He offers us. Even if you've been following Glynda Lomax for years on her YouTube channel, "Texas Author One," or her prophetic blog "Wings of Prophecy,"  ...

Beyond Words: Cultivating Faith Rooted in Relationship

Image
Calling on Your Faith Today, I want to talk about something that's been on my heart for a while now – a teaching that's been around for a while but can sometimes cause confusion: "calling those things that be not as though they were."  Seeking Clarity and Avoiding Misunderstandings As many of you know, I love diving deep into scripture and ensuring we grasp its true meaning. This concept can get misinterpreted, and I want to offer some insights from my own journey to help us navigate it together.  Faith Rooted in Relationship Listen, there's no doubt that faith is powerful. But here's something I believe strongly: true faith isn't just about saying the right words. It's about a deep, personal connection with God. We can't just throw out phrases "in Jesus' name" and expect things to happen. Genuine faith comes from a place of understanding and a two-way conversation with God through prayer.  Understanding Scripture in Context Sometimes...

Overworked and Underwhelmed? Maybe It's Time to Be Still With God

Image
Do you ever feel like you're constantly playing catch-up?  Juggling work, family, health, faith, and a never-ending to-do list can leave even the most organized person feeling overwhelmed.  Christian leaders are especially susceptible to this struggle.  We're driven to serve others and share our faith, but how can we be effective when we're constantly on the go? Many of us find solace in the familiar words of Psalm 46:10: "Be still, and know that I am God."  But being still can feel counterintuitive in our fast-paced world.  Isn't getting things done how we create value and make a difference? The truth is, if we're not careful, our busyness can become a form of idolatry.  Ministry work itself can take precedence over our relationship with God.  We may find ourselves working harder and harder, yet seeing minimal progress.  That's when the message of Psalm 46:10 hits home:  "Be still, and know that I am God." Are you turning up the effort but n...

Seeking God in the Wilderness: Lessons From a Camping Mishap

Image
Sharing a video of my busted camping trip! I had too many distractions in the wilderness. Seeking God in the Wilderness: Lessons From a Camping Mishap Hey everyone, guess who's back from a not-so-successful camping trip? Yep, it's me! Remember back in January of 2012 when I mentioned wanting to do a "seeking the Lord" camping trip? Well, let's just say things didn't quite go as planned.  The idea was simple: unplug from the world and focus on God.  Between the hustle and bustle of life, seeking God's guidance felt important.  Inspired by the verse "seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness" (Matthew 6:33), I packed my bags and headed out. But as soon as I arrived, reality hit.  The weather was freezing, my fancy new "shed" wasn't quite as warm as advertised, and of course, Murphy's Law decided to show up - air mattresses deflated, chairs broke, the whole nine yards.  Suddenly, "seeking the Lord" fe...

Prophetic Word December 31, 2011

New Year, New Wine: Prophetic Encouragement  Hey everyone, Conrad here. As many of you know, I don't typically share prophetic words around New Year's. But this year, something different stirred in my spirit. I felt compelled to share what the Holy Spirit has been revealing.   For those searching for prophetic words, keywords like "new wine and old wineskins," "taking new territory," and a call to reach the "lukewarm" might have drawn you here.  Let's dive into what this might mean for you in the coming year.  New Wine, New Wineskins First and foremost, the Holy Spirit is emphasizing a shift. We're entering a season of "new wine," a fresh move of God. But here's the catch: to receive this new wine, we need to shed the "old wineskins," the outdated methods and mindsets that have held us back.  Are you ready to trade in those old wineskins for something fresh? This might involve letting go of religious structures that ...

Taking Every Thought Captive

Image
I woke up this morning and while I was still in la-la land I had some bad memories from my past dance in my mind's vision. Once my conscious mind realized this was happening I quickly took the thought captive. Thoughts can be inspired by God and His team, Satan’s team, the world, our flesh, and ourselves. We are to hear the voice of God and obey (Hebrews 12:25). We are to ignore the enemy (John 10:5) and the world, and our fleshly lusts (Romans 8:13). When our thoughts get off track we are to meditate on the good things. The battle takes place in the mind: 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;) (5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; We are to focus our thought life upon good things. Philippians 4:6-8 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supp...

Fido was an awesome dog!

Image
Treasure what you have now One day my grandfather came home and asked me to get a carton of cigarettes out of the back seat of the car.  He had a grin on his face so I knew he was up to something.  I hurried out in my eight year old body wondering what the real story was. And inside a box, was a little black mutt with a white spot on his chest.   I named him Fido.  I have no idea what kind of dog he was.  Mutt about sums it up, but he was a mutt full of love and energy! Fido was awesome.  Everyday after school he would run across the street from playing with the neighbors dogs to come play with me.  I never got my books in the door.  I had to set them down and play for an hour or so before i finally went in to do some homework.  This routine went on for much of Fido's short life. One day, i made it home and actually made it in the back door.  I was shocked that i actually made it inside the house and was able to put my books on t...
