Occult Deception
The screen flickers with a "harmless" show about teenage witches, or perhaps a movie where the vampire is the misunderstood hero. It seems like entertainment, but beneath the surface, a deadly hook is being set.
The Pain: The High Cost of "Harmless" Curiosity
Many are drawn to the supernatural because they want power, healing, or knowledge without the "restriction" of submitting to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I know this path because I walked it. I delved into the New Age, seeking the supernatural, only to find myself ensnared by the demonic.
This fascination isn't just a hobby; it is a doorway. What starts as a "spiritual exploration" quickly turns into oppression, addiction, and spiritual misery. Even within the Church, I see believers mesmerized by "signs and lying wonders," mistakenly believing they can study the darkness to understand the light.
"Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders," — 2 Thessalonians 2:9 (KJV)
The Deception: Hollywood’s Spiritual Poison
Hollywood has mastered the art of glamorizing the demonic. They make the occult look appealing, empowering, and aesthetic. Some Christians even claim they watch these movies to "learn about spiritual warfare."
This is a lie from the pit. You do not learn to recognize counterfeit currency by studying the fakes; you learn by handling the real thing so often that a fake becomes obvious. The Word of God is the only Sword of the Spirit we are commanded to carry.
"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ." — 2 Corinthians 11:13 (KJV)
The Solution: Close the Door and Seek the Savior
The only way to win a fight with a lion is to stay out of the cage. If you want true peace and supernatural protection, you must stop the fascination before it takes root. You cannot entertain the "depths of Satan" and expect to walk in the light of God.
"But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden." — Revelation 2:24 (KJV)
Action Items for Your Home
Audit Your Entertainment: If a movie or book glamorizes witchcraft, vampires, or the occult, get it out of your house. Don't give the enemy a legal landing strip in your living room.
"Word Up" Your Children: Do not leave your children’s spiritual education to the world. Teach them the Truth so they can spot the counterfeit.
Repent and Renounce: If you have dabbled in New Age practices or occult "curiosity," repent and ask Jesus to break those chains today.
Focus on the Word: Spend more time in the Scriptures than you do on a screen. The Bible is your primary weapon.
The Bottom Line: Satan’s goal is to deceive the whole world (Revelation 12:9). Don't let your home be part of his statistics. Seek Jesus, stay in the Word, and keep the door shut tight against the darkness.
