Speaking to Your Mountain - Bold Declarations of Faith!

Image
Speaking to your Mountain In Mark 11:21-26, we find an often-misinterpreted and misapplied passage about the power of our words and the faith to back them up. Specifically, Jesus tells his disciples that if they speak to a mountain, telling it to be lifted up and thrown in the sea, it will happen for them. The "Name It and Claim It" Crowd Of course, this verse gets pulled out of context by the "Name It and Claim It" prosperity gospel folks. They focus only on the part about speaking to mountains, forgetting the sandwich bread - which is having faith in God first and operating in forgiveness second. They want to "name and claim" cars, houses, and bling without any thought of delighting in and having faith in God. Missing the "Have Faith in God" Part Jesus begins this teaching by pointing back to the fig tree that he had cursed, which then withered. He tells them in verse 22 to "Have faith in God." Our faith and expectations must be gro...

The Joy of Revelation: Pursuing God Until Truth Changes You

Image
When God Makes a Truth Come Alive Have you ever received a revelation from Scripture that continued to unfold for years? I have had moments when the Holy Spirit made a truth so alive that I could not let it go. I began seeing its implications in passage after passage. Prayer became more focused. Notes accumulated as I kept jotting down what stood out—verses, insights, questions, and connections I didn’t want to forget. It is the Holy Spirit taking the written Word and making it burn in our hearts until we respond in faith and obedience. Revelation Must Be Rooted in Scripture Every spiritual impression must be tested by the Bible. God will not reveal something that contradicts His character or His Word. The Spirit inspired Scripture, and He leads believers deeper into the truth already revealed in Jesu...

Delivering Difficult Words: Overcoming Fear to Advance God’s Kingdom Stepping out in faith to share hard words from God is not easy, but overcoming fear enables us to bring life-changing revelations to those who need them most. This post explores why we must boldly speak God’s truth despite discomfort, as obedience pleases the Lord and failure to do so robs others from receiving His keys to freedom. Opening Thoughts In the beginning, it is as if God gives us those “easy” words of knowledge to deliver. But as we grow in the gift, there come the words we don’t really want to deliver - those difficult words too scary to tell people who could react badly.  Don’t let fear stop you. Here are a couple good reasons to overcome the fear and share the word anyway: Two Key Reasons to Push Past the Fear  1. Robbing Someone of a Kingdom Key  You are robbing the person of a Kingdom Key that could significantly change their life. Words of knowledge can provide divine revelation that set...
