Outdoor ministry is a great way  to connect with God and others, and make a difference in your community. It can be as simple as going for a walk around your neighborhood and praying, or as involved as leading a community cleanup project. No matter how you choose to do it, outdoor ministry can be a rewarding experience.  Here are a few reasons why you should consider getting involved: It's a great way to connect with God. When you're out in your community, it's easy to see God's work in the world. The people you meet, the places you go, and the things you see can all point you to God's love and grace (Isaiah 40:28-31). It's a great way to connect with others.   God Is Not Silent, But He Expects Us to Grow Up Most people are not afraid that God has stopped speaking. They are afraid that He is speaking and they are missing it. I grew up in a church that told me God quit talking when the last apostle died. Then I spent years in the New Age chasing voices that were happy to talk to me but had no interest in making me holy. Between those two ditches I learned something I still lean on: God is not silent, but He is not a vending machine either. He speaks — and He expects us to grow up enough to handle it. God can speak in many ways. He speaks through Scripture, through the still small voice of the Holy Spirit, through wise counsel, through circumstances, and sometimes through dreams or impressions that will not let go of you three days later. That does not mean every dream is a memo from heaven. Some dreams are pizza. Some dreams are stress. Some dreams are your own heart preaching to you at two in the morning.
