From Witchcraft to Worship: Alexandria Butler's Radical Transformation

Have you ever felt like you were trudging through jello? Like every step you took was heavy, burdened by a darkness you couldn't quite name? Maybe you've felt that spiritual "ceiling" where no matter how much you try to reach out, something is pushing back.

Today, I’m sharing a testimony that has been years in the making. I’m talking about Alexandria Butler. Many of you know her on Facebook as "Baptized in the Holy Spirit." Her life story is a powerful testament to the transformative power of faith. She moved from the deep, murky depths of tarot cards and witchcraft into the radiant light of God’s love. If you’re struggling with demonic oppression, feeling numb, or wondering if Jesus still does the supernatural today—this is for you.

Imagine growing up in a world where your "normal" involves seeing dark, misty clouds following people around. Alexandria was born with the ability to see into the spirit realm, but without the covering of Christ, that gift became a playground for the enemy. She was surrounded by the practices of tarot and witchcraft from a young age. This wasn't just "spooky stuff"; it led to a life filled with bitterness, anger, and manipulation. Her heart became so hardened that she actually hated humans. She was consumed by negativity and a deep-seated loneliness that no amount of drugs or alcohol could numb.

The pain point many of us face is that we sense there is "more" to the spiritual world, but we find ourselves knocking on the wrong doors. We try to use the name of Jesus like a lucky charm or a talisman, only to find it doesn't work when the real storms hit. We feel the weight of our sins and the heaviness of the world, and we don't know how to set it down.

But there is a solution. God has a plan of divine intervention. Just as Alexandria experienced a radical encounter on Interstate 35 that moved her to tears for the first time in years, Jesus is looking to meet you exactly where you are—even if you're in the middle of delivering a "sack" of something you shouldn't be. Redemption isn't just for the "good" people; it's for the ones lost in the dark who are ready to see the light.

Alexandria’s life started under a shadow. She was scheduled to be aborted, but her grandmother intervened. Her early childhood was marked by severe neglect—eating cat food to survive—and later, the trauma of sexual abuse. This trauma robbed her of her innocence and, in a strange way, sharpened her discernment. She could sense spirits of lust and manipulation in men before she even had the words to describe them.

When she was seven, she received a King James Bible—a Precious Moments edition. She describes a scene that many of us who have experienced the prophetic can relate to. She sat the Bible on her windowsill, and it opened on its own. It was as if a hand moved her face and pointed her eyes directly to John 3:16.

Hearing the Voice

While she was alone at home—a "latchkey kid" with a key around her neck—the Spirit of God began to speak. "Do you believe that?" the voice asked. She said, "Yes." But as she grew older, the voices changed. By age 12, the demonic began to scream in her head, trying to keep her awake. She would plead the blood of Jesus, not even fully understanding what it meant, but knowing instinctively that there was power in it.

This is a key teaching point: the enemy often attacks those with a prophetic calling early. I talk about this in my book, OPEN YOUR EYES: MY SUPERNATURAL JOURNEY. When you have a "touch" or "the shining," as Alexandria's grandmother called it, you are a target. If the devil can't kill you, he tries to groom you into the counterfeit.

The Counterfeit vs. The Real

Alexandria’s mother began contacting "angels" for business decisions, using tarot cards. She even took Alexandria to see the movie The Craft and then to a pagan store ironically called "The White Dove." They sold candles and incantations—the counterfeit of the Holy Spirit.

One night, Alexandria and a friend set up an altar. They lit a black candle and a white candle to ask questions of the spirits. Alexandria, struggling with abandonment, thought in her heart, Does my mom love me? Before she could speak, both candles blew out and fell over. A dark shadow blew right between them. That was it. She walked away from the "tools," but the darkness followed. That same night, her mother’s bed caught fire from "spiritual" candles, leading to a hospital stay for smoke inhalation.

The Encounter on I-35

Fast forward to 2005. Alexandria is driving an '89 Cadillac Sedan DeVille down I-35, delivering drugs. Her CD player isn't working, and the radio is vexing her. She cries out, "God, I don't know what's wrong!" Suddenly, the radio starts skipping stations on its own. It stops on 91.9—Sunlife Radio.

She hears music that sounds like angels, and then a preacher (Jimmy Swaggart) says, "Somebody is driving down I-35 right now!"

The internal restriction broke. She pulled over on the highway, hands lifted, tears streaming. She describes it as a warm liquid being poured into her belly. Her temperature literally changed. That was her Born Again experience. The gray world suddenly had color. She felt 100 pounds lighter.

I’ve felt that same thing! When I was delivered from the "fowls of the air" while burning my heavy metal CDs, I felt 50 pounds lighter. That is the reality of spiritual weight being lifted. As it says in the Word: Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us (Hebrews 12:1 KJV).

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit

Being Born Again (sealed) and being filled (baptized) are often two separate experiences. Alexandria knew she needed power for ministry. She called into the radio show again, desperate. Donnie Swaggart told her, "Set in your mind that today is your day."

That night, watching the broadcast, Donnie pointed at the screen and said, "Sister Alexandria, if you’re watching right now, you will receive the Holy Spirit." She ran into her prayer closet. A weight settled into the room—the Shekinah glory. Her lips began to stammer. She saw amber-colored words in her mind’s eye, syllables and consonants, and as she yielded, she began to speak in tongues.

Personal Reflections

Listening to Alexandria, I’m reminded of my own journey. We both heard God as children, and we both suffered through intense demonic torment. If you’re going through that, don't let the "cessationists" tell you it isn't real or that the gifts aren't for today. Alexandria was even told by famous preachers that she didn't need "all that Holy Ghost stuff."

I’ve learned that when you walk in the spirit, it creates a reaction in people. Some get jealous, some get religious, and some try to shut you down. Alexandria was even kicked out of a church for interpreting a tongue because she hadn't "asked permission." We have to realize that the "corporate monologue" system we have today often stifles the very Spirit it claims to worship.

Jesus told the disciples to wait until they were endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49 KJV). We are filled for ministry, not just for a "goosebump" feeling in a pew. If you’re not "plugged into the wall," you're like a vacuum cleaner that won't pick up any dirt.

Biblical References

The Bible is clear about the progression of the believer. In Ephesians, we read: In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise (Ephesians 1:13 KJV). Being sealed is the "earnest" or down payment. But then there is the filling.

Remember Paul in Acts 19? He asked the believers in Ephesus, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? (Acts 19:2 KJV). They hadn't even heard of Him! When he laid hands on them, they were filled and spoke with tongues.

Jesus also gives us the ultimate promise for those who are "thirsty" for more: If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? (Luke 11:13 KJV).

Key Takeaways

  • The Enemy Targets the Prophetic: Demonic torment in childhood often signals a high spiritual calling.
  • The Counterfeit is Everywhere: Witchcraft, the New Age, and even "religious" traditions can be counterfeits of the true Holy Spirit.
  • Jesus is a Person, Not a Symbol: We don't worship crosses or rituals; we have a relationship with the living Christ.
  • Yielding is Key: There is a difference between receiving and yielding. You have to let go of your own strength to be filled.
  • Power for Ministry: The baptism in the Holy Spirit is specifically for the work of the Gospel—healing the sick, casting out demons, and reaping the harvest.

Conclusion and Call to Action

Alexandria’s story proves that no one is too far gone. Whether you’re trapped in the occult or just "numb" in a church pew, Jesus is calling you higher. He wants to take that heavy weight off your shoulders and replace it with His easy yoke.

If you’re struggling with spiritual attacks or want to understand your supernatural experiences better, I highly recommend picking up my book Overcoming Night Terror: Making the Demons Leave. It’s a practical guide to using your authority in Christ.

Don't wait for "permission" to follow the Spirit. Seek Him diligently. If you haven't been filled with the Holy Spirit, ask Him today. Set in your mind that today is your day.

Action Items

  • Repent and Renounce: If you’ve dabbled in tarot, "angel" cards, or any occult practices, renounce them in the name of Jesus and get them out of your house.
  • Ask for the Infilling: Spend time today in your "prayer closet," asking the Father for the baptism in the Holy Spirit as promised in Luke 11:13.
  • Yield to the Spirit: When you feel that "stammering lip" or a prompt to speak or pray, don't try to control it with your intellect. Just yield.
  • Step Out in Faith: Next time you're at the store or in public, ask God for a "Divine Appointment." If He points someone out to you, open your mouth and watch Him work.
  • Study the Word: Read Romans 6, 7, and 8 this week to understand the difference between living under the law and walking in the Spirit.

Until we meet again, dig deeper and go higher!
