Persevering in Faith Through the Fire: Pastor Rick Williams' Powerful Testimony

Image
Choosing Conviction Over Compromise As Christians, we are called to take up our cross and follow Jesus, even when it means making difficult sacrifices. This truth is powerfully illustrated in the testimony of Pastor Rick Williams from Life Spring United Methodist Church.  In 1979, while attending Southwestern Baptist Seminary, Pastor Rick found himself in the middle of a controversy over the operation of spiritual gifts in the church. He strongly believed the gifts were essential, while the seminary dean took a cessationist position that the gifts had ceased.  Pastor Rick was given an ultimatum - compromise his beliefs to stay at the seminary with financial support, or leave the school to follow his convictions. After much prayer, he made the difficult choice to withdraw from the seminary, not knowing what the future held for him, his wife, and his calling to ministry. Looking back, Pastor Rick sees how this trial was preparing him for God's purposes. He wasn't ready at age 24...

Finding Triumph After Tragedy - Janie Urbano's Story of Losing Her Son to Suicide

Image
A Mother's Journey Through Grief In this moving interview, I spoke with Janie Urbano, author of the book " Rise Again ." Janie vulnerably shares about the devastating loss of her son Jeff to suicide 23 years ago.  Getting the phone call that her son had died by suicide was a moment that turned Janie's life "inside out and upside down." In a state of shock and disbelief, Janie had to face the heartbreaking reality that Jeff was gone.  While the pain was indescribable, Janie shares how God's grace carried her through planning the funeral and the early days of grief. "God's grace was so present...it was just amazing," she recalls. Friends and church members rallied around her. However, after the funeral, the support dwindled and Janie felt desperately alone in her grief at times. She vulnerably shares how she wished more people had consistently reached out to listen, sit with her, and share memories of Jeff. Advice like "call me if you ne...

Author Glynda Linkous Shares Testimony of Miraculous Healing in New Book "The Healing Companion"

Image
Glynda Linkous: Miraculous Healing Testimony In a recent interview, author Glynda Linkous discussed the incredible story behind her latest book "The Healing Companion." After previously writing about her spiritual wilderness journey in "The Wilderness Companion," Linkous felt God prompting her that the next book in the series would be about healing.  In 2012, shortly after this revelation, Linkous suffered a severe hemorrhagic stroke that left her unable to walk and with slurred speech. Doctors gave her a dire prognosis, saying it would take 8 months to regain 80% of her abilities. But Linkous held fast to her faith, declaring that she serves a God who can do much better than that. Miraculously, Linkous recovered quickly, which motivated her to write "The Healing Companion" to share what God taught her about receiving healing. The book explores the biblical steps to healing, the role of faith, and how to overcome mental strongholds that can block healing. ...

A Turning Point: The First Church Visit Despite her resistance, Cindy was eventually pe...

Growing in Christ: Nurturing the Seed of Salvation - Heart Solutions Part 3 #CWC

Image
Overcoming Iniquity Through Spiritual Progression "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." (1 Peter 1:23) When we invite Jesus Christ into our hearts, a miraculous transformation begins. We are born again, not of corruptible seed, but of the incorruptible seed of God's Word. This is just the beginning of our spiritual journey, as we learn to nurture this seed and grow in our relationship with Christ. As newborn babes in Christ, we must desire the pure milk of the Word, that we may grow thereby (1 Peter 2:2). We feed on God's Word, hiding it in our hearts that we might not sin against Him (Psalm 119:11). As we meditate on the Word day and night, we become like trees planted by rivers of water, bringing forth fruit in due season (Psalm 1:2-3). But growth is not always easy. We face opposition from the world, the flesh, and the devil. Our old sinful habits and thought patterns (iniquities) m...

A New Heart Through the Power of Christ - Heart Solutions Part 2 #CWC

Image
Overcoming Iniquity Through Christ's Power "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh." (Ezekiel 36:26) God promises to give us a new heart when we come to Him in faith. This is the essence of being born again - going from a heart of stone that is dead in sin to a heart of flesh that is alive to God. Jesus told Nicodemus, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3) But this new birth is just the beginning. We must then nurture the seed of salvation and allow it to grow. Just as a newborn baby can see but cannot yet walk, a new believer starts by seeing the kingdom but must then mature. "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:" (1 Peter 2:2) This growth process involves overcoming the iniquities and sinful habits that once hel...

From a Wicked Heart to a Pure Heart Through Jesus

Image
From Wicked to Pure Heart "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" (Jeremiah 17:9 KJV)  This verse reveals the state of the human heart after the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Our hearts have a natural propensity towards evil and wickedness. As it says in Genesis 6:5, "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." But praise God, there is hope for transformation! The Bible shows us how we can go from having a wicked, deceitful heart to having a pure heart that allows us to enter God's presence. Psalm 24:3-4 says, "Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully." The key to this transformation is inviting Jesus Christ into our hearts. As Revelation 3:20 s...
